Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.
Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel presently benefit from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.
The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has actually been satisfying with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.
Mr George said "a number of small services in Cornwall presently earn money from used cooking oil".
He added: "In order to have the ability to get this type of market going it does need simply a little bit of lift which is available in the form of tax inevitable."
Biodiesel is a mix of standard diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
